We study quantum states in solid-state materials, with a special focus on magnets and superconductors. We seek to unravel the
microscopic origin of their quantum behavior. To this end, we use x-ray and neutron scattering techniques, low-temperature
thermodynamic and transport measurements, as well as ab initio calculations of the electronic structure.
